I’m Susan Mason – consultant, strategist, and problem-solver.

I have spent my career turning complex, ambiguous situations into completed outcomes.

I work best when the problem is hard, the timeline is tight, and someone needs to own it end to end.

I have:

• • Built BD functions, proposal systems, and compliance programs from scratch for organizations that had none.
  • Built opportunity pipelines from scratch, qualified pursuits, and led go/no-go decisions with leadership.
  • Managed federal and SLED proposals across DoD, DOJ, DHS, and state agencies, and worked across industries including government contracting, physical security, nonprofit, and the public sector. 
  • Managed and led ISO 9001 certifications, CMMC readiness programs, and a NASA SEWP VI submission that was awarded in 2026.
  • Adopted enterprise AI tools since ChatGPT’s public release in 2022 including Amazon Quick, Claude, and ChatGPT – applied operationally across research, writing, business development, and proposal support.
  • Deployed Agentic AI (Amazon Quick) to retrieve actionable business intelligence from a company’s disparate systems where no retrievable intelligence had previously existed.

Based in the DC metro area, serving Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia and remote.

Prior to consulting, I co-founded and built a nationally recognized nonprofit think tank from zero, securing funding, hiring staff, and designing, developing, and implementing every program, research initiative, data project, and legislative strategy the organization produced.

I authored and co-authored policy reports and position papers that influenced state and federal reform, secured state and federal grant funding, and briefed state and federal Cabinet-level officials on barriers facing underserved communities accessing employment opportunities.
